Yes indeed I am invoking the title and a select verse of one of my songs from the previous CD "Emotive, The Music and Performances of Andrew Thomas Bearce"
That is because I (we) were suffering through a deep stagnance in the quagmire of obstacles. So, as a possible remedy to immediate concerns for livelihood, we are here in Montana, trying to get re-established. Things have improved so I'll spare you the details. Here's the point:
No Emotive recording has been taking place for many months now, and probably will not take place until I can generate more funding for the next project. My keyboard-synth is set up and on display... sort of mocking me... until i can afford the time in the studio. Meanwhile I work a day job helping at risk youth.
The new album is on hold until further notice, yet the project is not abandoned, I assure you.
Be patient fans and friends.... it's coming.

Go listen to the first album again and help spread the news. Emotive is great music. You gotta get a copy! Play it loud. That is my advice to you.

And on that last screaming note... salutations, and GOOD NIGHT.

Anyway... "Everything's Alright"
Even though we're "Long Suffering"
"How Much Is Too Much" anyway?
Perhaps we can reflect in "Reverie" and "Dream Away"
Only to find ourselves "Unsigned and Naked"
"Dyno-Might!"

Lost Domain, what a shame

It happened months ago. As the economy put its squeeze on everything and everybody, including yours truly, I found that I could not afford the domain renewal fees for both atbproductions.com and emotivethemusic.com
This is most unfortunate, since years of networking and promoting have always included those two domain website addresses. However, the website content is all still intact. It is a good thing I did not pay for hosting and risk losing everything. My original sites were set up on tripod, for free! Thanks Tripod! The Domain name/ website addresses simply routed fans to the actual website, hosted on Tripod. This means it's all still available.
See http://drewbage.tripod.com/emotive001.htm

Direct link to downloads
http://betarecords.com/emotive

Now don't make fun of the name I originally chose at Tripod. I built my first ATB Productions site way back in 2000! Things were a little different back then. The name may have reflected something about the space I was in at the time. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then so much the better.
Anyway, 2000, wow! At that time Emotive was just getting started in Florida. I had two additional members filling in on bass and guitars and song writing collaborations. We were finding our progressive/ alternative rock sound at the tail end of the whole Grunge movement. We were finding our niche in the local South Florida scene. Those bars were a trip! The outdoor beach shows were awesome! And the private party performances...well... friends make great fans.

Remembering my friends and partners in music from South Florida...
What's up Jerry? Just another way to reach the masses. I don't know what I should be doing with it.Be sure to tell your friends to check out Emotive! http://hubpages.com/profile/Emotive
Don't forget my fans page http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=57332904338
Now, 10 years later, Emotive is a polished progressive rock solo act, recording fresh new music from the heart and soul. Be patient my friends, I have a few songs growing in the lab. It has been tough finding the time to continue the experimentation. Many obstacles exist. Yet these shall be overcome. Of course it happened during a revamp of the Emotive Website. You may notice it's a bit wacky there now. I lost some formatting, tables and such, but at least all the info and apps are still intact. It was really tickin me off though. What musician wants to spend 3 hours just trying to get some simple changes made on their webpage?

Not I said the freaky guy.

I spent alot of time promoting and advertising as well. I would much rather be in the studio.

However lately I've been having that 'studio block' and for no good reason. I am so ready to rock... what's goin on?

Instead of working on the new material last night, I put on Black Sabbath's Mob Rules and played along with Tony Iommi, trying to catch a little sabbath influence. Power chords and odd riffs. I love it! I'll probably hit it a few more times and polish some guitar techniques.
Guitar was not my first instrument ya know. Nor my second or third. In fact I didn't get myself a decent strat until 2004. Just enough for that rhythm baby. The interesting thing is, the walls are purple, heralding back to the original 'purple cave' studio in Sedona, used to record "Emotive, The Music and Performances of Andrew Thomas Bearce"

Should I bring back the original name?

The equipment now sits up on a platform, much like a stage, and the lower level also acts like a stage area. It's small, but with the platform arrangement, space is given good use. Now, what to do about the outside traffic noise? No, I havn't sound proofed yet. My short term solution is to only use open mics after midnight, when I can belt out the lyrics, or blast that saxophone, without worry of catching the sound of someone's deisel on the recordings.

Currently recording "Walking Through Walls" and a song called "Three Day Weekend"

Wonder if the neighbors can hear rehearsals in the wee hours.

Remember the line from "Dyno-Might" ? -"I hope it ain't too loud for the neighbors"...

Well, truly, ...I don't really care. So far no disturbance has been observed.

It's time to return to said studio right now.

Of course I'll have to clean up the tarot card spread I was using on the floor for study.

Emotive, Summer 2009

The recent news is, I have completed rebuilding my art and recording studio, which allows a much better workspace for all my creative needs. Though the easel is up and a canvas waits, I couldn't help beginning my new Emotive recording project "Walking Through Walls"Indeed, it seems I have been walking through many walls. It is something we all do, metaphorically speaking. Yet, as a concept, we should contemplate those things which appear to be impossible. Perhaps things are not what they seem, and no wall is permanent. More on that to be expounded in my new album. Watch for updates and samples. Until then, I invite you all to listen to and purchase the first debut album "Emotive, The Music and Performances of Andrew Thomas Bearce". Listen to songs like "Everything's Alright" or "Unsigned and Naked" or "Dyno-Might" and more. Tell us your favorite song. Remember, all purchases help support continued studio production, and supplies me with enough peanuts and coffee to survive.
Currently encouraging and accepting any help from fans to tell others and invite more fans to join the party. Or did you skip the rest? Maybe you just clicked for the catchy title.

How Much, indeed. This song was actually written quite some time ago, when Emotive was finding its way in South Florida. We needed a pop rock song that could appeal to the younger audiences. I don't know how the concept got started beyond that. I often ask myself about limits and boundaries, excess, expansion.... anything that blows the box wide open. So I began to ask...

"How much is too much And how real is what I feel"

Like my artwork, I like my words to be open for interpretation. It all becomes very philosophical to me really. What is the reality of boundaries, really? Can we hope to surpass them?

"And is it just dumb luck that keeps me in touch with

A little bit lighter a little bit brighter a little bit deeper a little bit wider"

Dumb luck. Just the way I'm wired. Keeps me in touch with those metaphorical symbolical concepts such as lighter, brighter, deeper, wider... suggesting limitlessness, ad infinitum.

Harder, smarter, faster, farther. More on this kind of thinking in my next album titled "Walking Through Walls" Stay tuned for that one kids. Anyway, this song was put together using a drum machine sequencer, something I used to be against. I have to tell you, I hate rap, but I decided to just speak words in rhythm for the second half of the lyrics. This broke new ground in the sound of Emotive, and placed this song into the modern rock genre. You could even dance to it!

The sax solos were a last minute thought, and brought the style back to that unique Emotive sound with a new twist.

_________________

"And when ya look around all you see is headin down

Headin down is all you see Jammin up your liberty

When you're lonnnnnnng sufferinnnnnnn"

Life is hard. Suffering is a noble truth, says the Buddha. Coming to terms and working with that suffering is something we all have to learn to do, or else we'll lose it. Art and Music are two ways to work with that angst that comes from suffering. That Emotion has so much potential energy to be channeled into great works, and it just feels good to vent sometimes. That's what Long Suffering is all about. There's no resolution or answer to the problem in the song, and if that doesnt make you feel any better, just listen to the song, and let out that frustration. I'm with you man.

"And when you begin It starts diggin in

Under your skin into your bones

Tappin the wiiiires on your phone

Always aware that you're never alone

when you're lonnnnnnng lonnnng sufferinnnnn"

For a little reggae rock, listen to "Only World" as a dreamtime story unfolds revealing the conciousness of nature. A call to the world for environmental awareness. Join the journey.

"Everything's Alright" is my antidote to Long Suffering. A song of letting go of the past, and believing its all good, no matter what. Sometimes its just good to say it, sing it, and believe it. So it is.

"Everything is alright, Everything's fine, Everything's Easy

There's no reason to doubt, There's no reason to fear

Tomorrow, Is here!"

Reverie - An ambient spacey soundscape piece that has an intense lift. This is one to dim the lights for, light some candles, insense if you like, relax in a very comfy seat and a put on good set of headphones. Remember that Memorex Ad back in the 80s? With the guy in his armchair gettin blasted...? It's like that. My wife Stephanie helped write the words, and did the voice-over.

Dream Away - A dreamy song of melancholy reflection. This was one of those ancient songs I carried around with me through the years hoping one day to get the right arrangement and recording. This cut comes real close. I wrote it in Brooklyn, NY when the first Gulf War broke out, I was pretty disgusted and I was longing for a return to the beautiful mountains of WVa. where I grew up. It was there I could fall into the sky. Intense vocals. Big finish. Another good lift.

Unsigned and Naked - Well what do you think it's about? I'll tell you. Try not to be disappointed. It's about the vulnerabilities and hard lifestyle of the dedicated independent artist. That's me! And true to form, I don't think I have to do it the way standard industry says it should be done. Case in point. This album attests to that. This song has a heavy modern rock feel to it. I used some looped guitar effects and a mechanical drum beat with a real drum set over the top. It rocks. I mean I don't know much about blogging yet, and things are bound to be off to a sloppy start, but at least I brought toys! Don't see it? Look for it. I'll wait.......

It's at the bottom of the page, until further notice.
Ok, so click on the songs and listen. Turn it up. These songs are a culmination of some of my best studio work between 2006 and 2007. I hope you enjoy it.
Once I have made a fan of you, I only ask that you download your favorite songs, or even the whole album, by becoming a member at www.betarecords.com/emotive
The music console (somewhere on this page... did you find it??) will take you there once you click download. Once there, sign up, sign in, purchase your favorite music: Emotive! You can also give votes and ratings, and leave tips... nudge nudge. There are tons of other independent artists there for you to discover. I suggest after you've bought the Emotive album, you should listen to my artists, my playlists, go to my tribes... you'll have a great musical experience.
Give it a try.

So go on, multi-task. You can use a separate window and keep reading while you listen to the music. I won't bore you with Emotive artist biography details and history, you can find that all over the place, beginning with http://www.emotivethemusic.com/
But I want to tell you more about the music. I'm highly influenced by the cutting edge progressive rock sounds from the 60s through 80s, wherever it could be found in its pure uncommercialized forms. Bands like RUSH, YES, SUPERTRAMP, PINK FLOYD, MOODY BLUES, ALAN PARSONS, KING CRIMSON, KANSAS, GENESIS, ELP...come to the fore. Yet there is also that heavy rocker side of me drawing from BLACK SABBATH, OZZY, BOC, JUDAS PRIEST, DIO, DEEP PURPLE, ... and then theres that anything goes part of me that listens to blues, jazz, classical, folk, southern, ambient and experimental. What does it all add up to?

EMOTIVE

DYNO-MIGHT is one of those songs that just came to me while I was cleaning up the house one day. That bass line that begins the song came first. By itself, it was rather abstract and an irregular rhythm, but it set the mood and foundation for the hook of the song. Once adding percussion, it became alive. The chords came in due order.I followed the logic as it revealed itself. Added piano, guitars, and layed that sax right up on top, soaring and diving... until ***

"Hello and thanks for comin down Maybe you've seen me around
Looks like I'm playin uptown now Just wanted to let you hear the...
Soooouunnnnnnddd...."

The vocals came as naturally as the melodies and rhythm. This was a song of introduction. I had already planned it to be a show opener, and it just so happened I had a show coming up!
I was in Phoenix at the time, struggling as usual. When I had been offered the opportunity to play some music for a street corner bagel shop by happenstance, I had to say yes! And this would be the first time I put on a show by myself. No other musicians, just yours truly.
I used prerecroded rhythms and backing tracks and concentrated on my vocals and sax performance. As I was planning this, the song Dyno-Might was growing in my mind.

"My voice is crackin tonight And I can't see in this light
But i got some dyno-might Yeah I got some dyno-might
And I think I might use it"

The lyrics make fun of the fact that I'm truly nervous and worried about my performance,
but I know I got the right stuff "Dyno-Might" and I intend to use it.

"I hope that you hang around I think we're drawing a crowd
I hope it aint too loud for the neighbors
but maybe its not loud enough!"

And thus begins the instrumental rock madness. The sax in this song gives it some sort of acid jazz blues rock feel. Classic progressive. Wow.. that sounds like a diagnosis.
Will you stick around for more insanity, like the song suggests?

Emotive, The Music

YOU FOUND IT!
Now start downloading Emotive, join and become a fan.
